Help picking wedding design-more info

Post by Busy_B »

Okay, I'm struggling with this a little bit. My SIL just got engaged over the weekend to her boyfriend of 5 years (I think). He's had the ring for about a year and a half.  I know that the wedding will be within the next year most likely. I did a cross stitch for my BIL when he got married, so I really should do one for Beth. Her and her fiance aren't really the flowery type (even though her favorite color is purple). Unfortunately, the two samplers I have are flowery. This is just going to be part of our gift to them since I already know that I will be doing the wedding cake (for probably 200-300 people), plus going to one or two showers for family, and I don't know if any of us will be in the wedding (doubt DH will be, unlikely I will be, but my daughter might be). Obviously we'll be spending quite a bit on the wedding with everything. Sorry for the long explanation. Here are the 2 that I'm looking at:

Gosh what a hard choice! I've always liked the celtic one (but haven't had a reason to stitch it yet) but that black and white one is lovely too!

P.S. sorry I didn't help very much!

The first one, it has a sort of mystic about it.

Thanks for the ideas!! I've been really tempted by the first one, too. I ran across another celtic one, but there would have been more wording on there than I would want, and the opening would have been too blank without all of it. :thinks: Wonder if I should change the blue to purple. :thinks: :thinks: :thinks:

Wonder if I should change the blue to purple. :thinks: :thinks: :thinks:
Do you know what colour the bridesmaids will be wearing? or the colour of the invitations? Maybe you could match with those colours to personalise it?

Don't really know much yet. I guess they are thinking about September 2010. The only thing I do know is what the cake is going to look like since she already has a picture of it--the only change will be a small black ribbon at the bottom of each tier. I've got plenty of time (famous last words  ), but I wanted to get a head start on trying to find something for them.

For me it would have to be the first one. I love Celtic designs and that one is particularly nice.

Love the bottom one. Very modern even though it is Celtic.

I actually find the M and L strangely distracting although I love the colors and the border the most.

I’m not very fond of #2 and I agree losing the swan is the way to go. It still looks “frilly” in the color palette presented.

Of the three, #3 is my favorite as is.

I’m sure whatever you decide, it will be a cherished gift!

I am having a very hard time deciding on a wedding sampler for myself and will probably not get to it until after we are married. I “think” I have narrowed it down to Papillon’s Love with a Capital L but I still can’t decide on colors.

Thanks for all of the opinions! I really appreciate it!! DH and my mom both like the first one, too. I will probably just keep an eye on the site to see if it goes on sale. It's not that expensive of a kit, but with everything going on, every little bit counts. I think they're talking about getting married next September, so hopefully I should have plenty of time. (Famous last words, right?  )

I'm late commenting, but out of those three, for someone not floral, I'd go with the first one as well.
