For me, I'm not sure how I will stay motivated what with all the background, but I chose one with background that has a lot of interest and detail in it to try to avoid getting fed up and overwhelmed by it.
I have chosen also to stitch another HAED alongside this one and set up a small rotation so I don't get burnt out with one design.
I love Jasmine Becket Griffith's art that HAED also chart so may pick one of those, but I cant decide which one!

Beautiful design - can't wait to follow your progress on her! Q for you, as I'll soon(?) be starting my first HAED....planning to do it on 25ct and I would FAR prefer to x-stitch than tent, as I've never tented before and I actually think I'll be quicker x'ing - are you using 1 or 2 strands??

Grateful for my life - especially when I’m stitching!

I'm using one strand on 25 count. I tried 2 strands but it was far too bulky. I think the best way to find what works for you is to test stitch 1 and 2 strands and see what you like the best. Good luck with your new HAED, I love HAED stitching and hope you do too

Great to see another HAED! And I like these newer designs of hers, not as 'dark' as some of the others, a little bit different!
And you're right there is a lot going on in this background with all the pillars etc.
As for Mabel's question, since the background on mine isn't much more than a reddish splodge, I keep motivated by starting in a corner, doing a little patch and then working around it... I'll try and draw what I mean -
4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4
3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 4
2 2 2 2 2 2 2 3 4
start 11111 2 3 4
Hope that makes sense! So I start at the bottom left and I've numbered the rows/columns to show you how I stitch. Sometimes I go across the bottom and up the other side too! (Well I have to keep it interesting if it's all just in one main colour...)
