Welcome! I've done bookmarks for gifts; I have used their initials in Old English style, sorry I don't have any pics. Are you doing them in a holiday theme or special occasion theme?
I hope some others here can help also!

I looked through some bookmark pictures I store on my computer. Most of them don't have any saying on them. I found a few with verses from the Bibel, if that is what you need, and also sayings like "Teachers have class" and Teaching is a work of the heart." But if you want you can always choose a quotation that suits the person you are making it for... A line from a song, for example... Or a proverb.

I'm doing a bookmark pattern from an old issues of Cross Stitcher. It's like a sampler style, with a flower, fish, birds and borders. At the top it says "Here, I fell asleep". I think that's a beautiful expression.

I think I did a couple when I was a kid that had pictures of teddy bears, and said "A beary good book" or "An un-bear-ably good book".
Current WIP's:
Fall Lake (GK)
Crackling Silence (Mystic Stitch)
Hidden Spirits (Dimensions)
