Haha, Schumacher was so named because of the way he used to fly around the house at top speed when we first got him. He had no name for about three days and then ex-hubby suddenly looked at him and said "Schumacher!" My Mum has always nicknamed him "Little Schu".

Well, one more animal to do tonight (a duck) and then I've realised I only actually have 12 different animal patterns, but I have 14 squares to stitch them on. I looked for some more animals in a similar size and style to use, but can't find any other suitable ones, so I decided to repeat two of the animals from the top half of the afghan to fill in the gaps at the bottom - I'm going to do the bluebird and the fish again so that will be my task for the next couple of days.

I've also just found a metre of lightweight white iron-in interfacing on ebay for 99p plus 81p postage (bargain) so I have bought that to use as backing for the stitched squares. It's 70 x 100 centimetres so I worked out I will get 40 squares out of it measuring 5 x 5 inches which is the size of the squares on my afghan and I will only need 20 (14 animals and 6 letters). So I will have enough spare for if I do another afghan in the future!

And here's another!

I took a picture of the whole thing as it is now as well.

I just need to do two more animals on the bottom row now. The panel of 6 squares in the middle is for the baby's name.

I thought you might like the bunny, Angel! If you fancy having the chart for yourself, by the way, it's a free download on EMS Forum. You have to register on the site to use it, but then you can download anything you want that is on there.

Well, only two animals to go now. As I mentioned, I have 2 squares left and no more animals, so I am going to repeat the bluebird and the goldfish, but I have decided to mirror them so they will face the other way and go on opposite sides of the afghan, just so they're not completely identical to the original ones. Hopefully I will finish this tonight as it's Friday and I can stay up later!

Superb work, Sarah!

When you do the ironon interfacing, can you please, show us a picture of what it looks like done? I also have an afghan in my stash that I plan to start when cold weather hits (no way you can work on such a thing in this heat), and really don't know what to do with the back. Thanks
