Newbie - Cut-Thru Castle

Post by pepperpots »

Hi,

I am new to cross stitch and new to this forum. This is my first ever project and I am totally addicted, although the back stich is hard work!

Image

It's a bit crumpled and I am hoping that ironing and proper framing (when it is eventually finished) will sort it out. I started it about a month ago. I am trying to get it finished by Xmas, as my Dad said he would get it framed professionally for me as a present - but that might be wishful thinking!

Here is what it will look like at the end (touch wood).

Welcome to the forum.
I like your project very much but I think it may be a bit late framed for this Christmas.
There is loads of work in these designs isn't there.
Good luck with it and keep posting progress pics.

That's quite a challenge you've set yourself as a first project  but you're doing great! Don't worry about the creases, some gentle ironing is bound to sort it out!

That's very impressive as a first project! Don't worry about the creases at all, framing will sort that out.

I thought if I left it all to the end it would be too huge a job and I would never finish it!

Hello & welcome to the forum. It's a great quirky design and you are brave doing it as a first project. The creases will come out after it's ironed so don't worry.

Your doing a fantastic job and well done for tackling this as your first project  Think the backstitch in the cut thru's can be enough to put off experienced stitchers  !! Well worth it though, I  this design!

What a great job you're making of this and I think you're wise to do some backstitch as you go along. At least then it's not going to be facing you as one big mountain at the end.

What a fun project! I had some jigsaw puzzles a bit like this when younger and they always made me smile. :D

I know what you mean about backstitch - if you have a look at the thread for my current WIP you'll see that I'm a bit of a glutton for punishment with backstitch. It does make all the difference though so it is worth it in the end.

This is a huge and ambitious project for your first one and you're doing brilliantly! I love these cut through designs, so much detail and bright colours. I don't envy you all that backstitch though! Keep up the great work, looking forward to the next update!
