Wow, what a detailed pattern! What are the new techniques it uses that you mentioned? I love finding out about new techniques.
Great progress!

I'd never done a project with blended threads before but that, bit is ok, but it also uses 'couching' and 'cording' neither of which I've ever done before, but I love a challenge and always happy to learn, but if anyone has any tips on these techniques feel free to share!

Great progress. I've seen this kit before and nearly bought it but I figured I had enough in my stack to last me awhile so I actually stopped myself (plus it was very close in colours to one in my stack that I haven't started, Silent Flight).

I have done this pattern and it is a wonderful pattern to work. I changed a few of the stitches but it was very colorful and fun to do. You are making great progress!!!!

I've never done either of these techniques either, but sure they'll make him look fabulous. Youtube's often a good source for tips and demonstrations.Pooky wrote:I'd never done a project with blended threads before but that, bit is ok, but it also uses 'couching' and 'cording' neither of which I've ever done before, but I love a challenge and always happy to learn, but if anyone has any tips on these techniques feel free to share!

Wonderful progress! Not sure about cording, but couching means laying the cord or chunky thread on your fabric according to the chart, then securing it with tiny invisible stitches worked over the thread. To make them really invisible what I've sometimes done is (only works if the thread is thick enough) choose a thin sewing thread or a ingle strand of stranded cotton in the colour of the thread you're couching, then make the securing stiches so that you come out of and go back into the same hole, so basically your making a little loop which holds the thick thread in place, and because the thin thread uses only one hole it will go right underneath the thick thread so you'll hardly see it. Hope this makes sense

That's a great idea Mabel.
And you explained it perfectly.
