This is my next project. My Mum loves William Wordsworth's poem, "Daffodils" - so do I actually and went as far as learning the whole poem and then reciting it as OH and I walked "The Coffin Trail" in the Lake District between William Wordsworth's two houses, Dove Cottage in Grasmere and Rydal Mount in Rydal.
Anyway...... the idea is to stitch a bunch of daffodils and then backstitch the poem beside them for my Mum. I found this lovely chart for download for only $1.98 so I will start with this and then add the poem to the right hand side of the picture. I will be stitching on moss green 14 count Aida. I thought I might stitch the daffodils in 3 strands as well, to ensure they stand out well against the green.

Oh, lovely! It will be really bright against the green! Are you designing your own alphabet for the poem?

This looks like it is going to be a great one to follow.
I like the sound of the green fabric.
Have you already charted out the poem?
2022 is yet another year of the UFO!!
Great Wall of China,
Peacocks and Pheasants,
Birds of a feather,
Hardanger Table runner,
TW Peacock Tapestry,
Milennium Sampler,
Yes, they are all STILL in progress!
I'm really looking forward to starting. I've made up a project bag with the fabric and threads. I've charted the poem as well, using a "joined up writing" style alphabet I found available for free download. I even found free graph paper to download so got some of that too.
The poem, when stitched, measures longer from top to bottom than the vase of daffodils does, so I thought I would do the daffodils first, then start the poem from the bottom and work upwards, so that the vase and the last line of the poem are level. I'll start it tomorrow morning.

I'm not sure about the colour for the poem - I thought black might me a bit too stark so I thought about a really dark green like 500 or 890. I'll see what they look like against the fabric.

Here's the first picture. I stitched the vase and water with two strands and the stalks in three strands. Where the stalks are inside the vase, you blend the green and the blue to make it look blurred by the water. Can't wait to start on the daffodil heads now!
