I am trying to do the 3/4 cross stitch, but it is not easy. As far as I understand, your supposed to "form" your own hole in the Aida, in the dead center of the four holes? Well, if that is correct, this is hard. Especially with the rounded tip needle. Am I just doing this wrong? Or am I just having trouble with it? I think I read in one of the posts, that someone here just tries to avoid doing them, when a project calls for it. I would love to do that at this point, but I just don't think it will look good. Any suggestions would be grateful! Thanks.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. But the fabric that came with the kit, doesn't have much room for give. So, that would pretty much be doubling the size, right? I did switch to a sharp needle, and it is a little better, but it's still a pain in the butt! Lol...
Pretty much. A design made for 14ct Aida would look exactly the same on 28ct evenweave, but yeild a finer finish. The fractionals would be neater. Evenweave fraysvery easily though, so I always reccomend fray check on it.
i have a very pointy needle that I love..except when I stitch myself..lol..
but my last big project had soooo many of these 3/4 stitches..and I stitched on 18ct. I had a rounded tip needle and had to push really hard..i broke a needle..so then I looked through my needle stash and found a very sharp one..worked wonderfully!

If it was a kit with lots of fractionals I'd be very tempted to swap the fabric for evenweave and use the kit aida for something else later. Failing that I'm afraid a sharp needle is probably your best option...
