I got a lovely card from my nephew! I sent him a name plate for his birthday using the Margaret Sherry alphabet, he got his almost-step-dad (my brother) to email me at the time to say he loved it, he has now got Andy (who he calls "my Andy" to distinguish him from "my daddy") to help him send a card to say thank you.

He's 5, and in a different country, and we haven't actually met yet, so I think this is really impressive! There are also some pictures he's drawn for me, of Indiana Jones (distinguished by his hat), an exploding robot (well, it's definitely exploding), and a sabre tooth tiger. The little captions, helpfully written on by my brother, help with identifying the pictures.

I have a thank you letter my nephew wrote 21 or 22 years ago now and I still keep it.

KK, i'm impressed that your brother encourages his son to write thank you cards for gifts received. i remember as a child having to do this before i could actually use or play the gift, whatever the holiday. i have noticed that my future in-laws don't require their kids to write thank you cards for any of the gifts for the past two years that i have known them. (strange thing about that though. the future MIL was offended that i didn't write a thank you card for a casual pork chop dinner that i had at their house. to me, it was just a casual invite for a family meal...nothing fancy or preplanned!)

Oh, this is really sweet.

Interesting thing, cultures... in Hungary we don't really do thank you cards at all... I am sure most people would find it strange - but I believe it is a beautiful custom.

Agi, The Netherlands doesn't have that tradition either, and I really had to get used to it when I came to live here -- my mum was rather surprised to receive a thank you letter from my MIL when she (mum) had sent her (MIL) a birthday card with some quilting fabrics -- but I do like it!

I got my free gift for my article appearing in Card shop magazine - some card blanks in pretty coulours.

From sew and so I got 2 hoop frames and a square snap frame along with the DMC colour I forgot to order previously for a small picture I am doing.

Over the weekend:

I got some audio books from maggs, which are really lovely and will totally help relieve the boredom of no net while I'm moving as well as deeply enable stitching.

I also got some lovely green DMC threads through from minij? Sorry my sister handed me the envelop just before we began bulding hutches and I didn't fully read the card...and left it at her house as hutch building took a lot longer than expected and I had to run out Muchly appreciated though!
