Question Game
Moderators: rcperryls, Rose, karen4bells, Serinde, Alex
your answer is :-
An old british exspression, used in the context "he knows how many beans make five", meaning "he knows his stuff" or referring to one who's good at wooden beads (beans) were moved along in various increments.

Question :- which came first the chicken or the egg?

Ok, so this is fun to randomly pick an old page and read the posts (an EXCELLENT time waster on this slow slow day at work)Rose wrote:

How many Christmas songs do I know all the words too? Too many to count, and I am afraid that the next time I am out shopping, I will hear Christmas music in the stores and it is only the middle of October. My favorite songs are The Holly and The Ivy and Carol of the Bells- two of the odd balls seldom heard.
Pumpkin pie, Apple pie, something else, or a little bit of everything?
Re: Question Game
Apple pie - it's my favourite dessert, but I'm very picky (think Sally from When Harry Met Sally - she is very particular in her pie preferences too - LOL!).Pumpkin pie, Apple pie, something else, or a little bit of everything?

Re: Question Game
This is an interesting thread!
Serinde, you're so smart!
My earliest memory is sitting in my pram on the front lawn waiting for my Dad to come home from work and throwing all my toys out onto the grass. I don't know how old I was, but I can't have been very old if I was in a pram.

Because they find it amusing to see us all wearing inappropriate clothing
Seriously, I think it's probably because it's very hard to predict anything in more than a local area for the next few hours accurately as the effect of objects in space, winds etc can all change things quite easily not too far in advance.

So that you appreciate the time when you do get to stitch.
Where do all the socks go that you have lost in the clothes dryer?
Re: Question Game
Ah, I know this one! I read a story once when I was a kid about how all the lost socks that disappear in the laundry or down the back of your dresser end up in Lost Sock Land! Unfortunately, I can't remember much else about it other than I enjoyed it immensely at the time.MaggieM1750 wrote:Where do all the socks go that you have lost in the clothes dryer?
Why is it accepted that men get "Man Flu" but women only get the "normal" kind and have to get on with it? (LOL!)

Re: Question Game
Because men are all big babies! Just look at how they get Scalextrics and train sets and Playstations and so on for their kids - it's only so they can play with them themselves. So it follows that they should make a big fuss about a little sniffle.
And something completely random........
Should I buy a live Christmas tree or a fake one this year? I have to get a little one (about 2 foot 6) as it must sit on my coffee table.

Neither! For the last few years, I have bought a potted Rosemary plant which smells great- and throughout the holidays I just cut a few sprigs here and there to use in my cooking. I run my hands over the branches when I want to release some of the oils.
Or you could get a small tabletop "permanent tree" as I have heard them called now. You won't have to bother watering a fake tree. And with a really great air freshener- you won't even remember it's not a real tree. I like Frasier by Thymes or one of the pine scents from Yankee Candle or Bath and Body Works.
Have you ever won a prize in a raffle?
Re: Question Game
Somehow we have two questions in a row. I will answer this one:
Coffee or tea?
Blame the Jesuits, apparently, for importing turkeys to England in the 1700s. Traditionally, English people used to eat big birds like goose or duck or (even earlier) boar or pork or haunches of beef. Scotland, of course, was different: after 1580, when Christmas was no longer celebrated, there was no big dinner, nevermind a turkey!kazzi29 wrote: ok xmas dinner.....y turkeys????

Re: Question Game
It's an evil masterplan to keep us from stitching by ensuring we have too much cleaning to do.

Because the car wants a day off! It doesn't like the idea of being forced around town carrying everything for you.. Sounds like a pretty selfish car
