Cecilia, you could maybe try the medium weight interfacing if you wanted a thicker coverage, I don't think it would make much difference to the weight. The lightweight one that I got is as thin as a single layer of toilet paper.

Oh all the animals done already!

And your cunning plan of duplicating the bluebird & goldfish worked very well - because I couldn't spot the duplicates for ages!!!

Haha, don't worry, Louise, I'm not very observant either. It normally takes me a whole weekend before I notice when OH has had his hair cut!

Re: Sarah's Baby Afghan - Baby now born!!!!

Post by Sarah Gixxer »

Good news! Our friends, Morton and Diane, now have their baby boy!

Morton texted us last night to say Duncan Alan was born yesterday morning and mum and baby are doing well. I don't know the baby's weight or anything else yet, I think Morton was just quickly texting everyone in his phone with the news. Anyway, this means I can now stitch the lettering on the afghan.

Mabel, luckily they didn't decide to call him Jebediah Cholmondelly or anything else with 300 letters in it! Duncan they planned and Duncan he is now he has arrived, so as soon as I've finished Page 1 of Floatilla (should be in the next day or so) I will do the lettering. I'm using a tartan alphabet although I'm going to rechart the letters because they're a bit too small for what I want at the moment, I need to increase them by about a third. Then I just need to do the fringing and it will be ready to give to Diane when we get an invite.

"Jebediah Cholomodelly" @rotfl:

The poor child if they'd called him that!

Look forward to seeing it complete with lettering and fringing.

And another one!

The second 'n' will be the same colours as the other one, so once I've done that I just have to iron the interfacing on the back of the letters and then do the fringing, so if all goes well, my next picture will be of it all finished. :x:

Start another? Why on earth would I want to do that?! @rotfl:

Anyway, so far so good. I finished the last letter, ironed on the interfacing over the backs of the letters and started the fringing.

I was actually very surprised how easy I'm finding it, once I got going. I've just frayed 2 sides at once and started at a corner. Because the fringe is only about 2.5 - 3 inches long, I thought 4 strands in each knot was plenty, so I'm doing a single row of overhand knots and it's looking..... very good, even if I do say so myself. I've got 3 sides done anyway - will have a completed picture for you shortly!
