Next update picture. When my mum saw this one she asked "is it finished?!"

Image

And I've started on the lettering!! :D I've gone for 814 in the end as it's one of the main colours used and not as dark as the 154, so far I've done the words "Queen of" - I've tons more black to do on the current page and then will be over halfway across and will do the words "hearts" - I'm also going to eventually put my initials (hopefully in the same lettering - I think they'll fit at the bottom right corner), and the dates as well - might just backstitch the dates...

A question, though - should I just put 2008-2009, or December 2008-December(???? at a guess!) 2009, or exact dates like 4th December 2008-xx December 2009, what does everyone think? With the last option I'm not sure as it makes it sound a bit like someone's passed away!!

I can see why your mum asked whether she was finished! So nearly there now and she's looking fantastic.

On dates, I'd be inclined just to put the completion date rather than the start date as well, or if you want to indicate the length of time it took then December 2008 - December 2009.

It's looking fantastic!
As for the date question. I dunno...you worked hard on this, and it took a long time to complete..if you don't put how long you put on it, it kind of feels like you're not justifying how long it took to make it... I dunno if that makes sense lol

I love it! As for the date question I would suggest a start and finish date. But shorten it maybe to Dec '08 - Dec '09 if space is an issue.

Louise - this looks fantastic - I can't believe you will have it finished in a year!

I usually just put my initials and the year on the design and will put the exact information on the back of the frame - (number of hours, stitch count, - my latest one which is a gift, I will also spell out my full name on the back as well)

I think I'd just do the years -- that indicates you've worked on it a long time, but doesn't get cluttered.

Any pictures of the lettering yet? *needs eager smiley *

My camera film is nearly full (no, I haven't moved out of the dark ages yet...) so you can expect pictures fairly soon.

I think I may do the dates as December 2008-December 2009 (still being hopeful I will finish it in December!... or January would do as the HAED reward programme closes on 30th Jan!) - I've decided it's important to put dates on them. My uncle has researched our family history and has passed to me a sampler done by my great-great (I think... or maybe another great!) grandma done in 1882 when she was 13 - it's not dated, but I also have the book she was given as a prize for it, which does have the date in. Pictures of both are in my camera so you can expect to see them soon too! :D So I'm certainly going to make sure I put the dates on my HAED so people in centuries to come will know who did it and when!!

That'll be really nice for future generations in the family who'll be able to see what great great great granny did. Of course you'd probably also better threaten to haunt them unless they preserve it

You mentioned that the deadline for the haed submission is Jan2010. Does that mean we just have to make sure we send the final piece pics with all the details by Jan30 2010, or little at a time from Dec 30 on. And do we have to inform them ahead of time that we are interested? Sorry, I know its off topic, But I was curious.

Vani, from what I understand from their website, 30th Dec-30th Jan is the only time during which you can send your finished picture etc in order to get your free chart... it saves them on admin I guess. So I'm hoping I'll be sending in mine during that period... otherwise the next time they're doing it is 30th June-30th July I think.

No I don't think you need to let them know you'll be sending it in... at least I haven't!
