Its funny, you know I am Mexican living in your country Nederland, so since I was celebrating xmas here, I brought the tradition...

we celebrate it the 24, on xmas eve, so we go to mass cause its earlier than the special dinner we make, then the party starts..

first we have all the xmas presents by the xmas tree, we dont do the santa clause thing, cause we dont believe on him, so everybody give presents to everybody.

we have the dinner and of course before the opening of the presents we dance, and the most important tradition for this part of the year are the "piñatas" which were a tradition brought by the franciscans to Mexico (now all the parties specially kids ones have one), then the presents and we end up the celebration around 3 or 4 am on xmas day..

now my question ....

what kind of project you could make with those colour variations flosses ??

I love using them for geometrical designs and initials, but I have also seen them used to great effect in floral designs or things like grass or sea.

What does your country mean to you?

Lots. There are many problems in the UK, and often I think it would be nice to move to another country that seems to have less problems or at least a more focussed government that was keen to maintain national identity. However, no matter how much I enjoy going abroad, when I fly back from holiday there is definitely something about coming home. There are also some fantastic areas which are still preserved. Putting my finger on specific things, I love the history of the UK, I am a staunch monarchist and love the monarchy. I love the countryside and I love the little things that have built up in the character over the years - the patience with queuing, the little chat about the weather, the way we can think 100 miles is the other end of the earth and have an extended conversation about the best route to get there, traditional English pubs, our general tendency to maintain houses and gardens, the proms, our ability at ceremonial occasions etc. *she pauses to break into renditions of Jerusalem, I vow to thee my country and Land of Hope and Glory*

I prefer my cake with icing. But we don't have a lot of cakes at Christmas, we have pies.

Cherries, strawberries, bananas :D Don't buy a lot though because it always seems expensive to me! - and difficult to keep for long

Do you work in an environment with mainly men, mainly women, or equal? It's mainly men where I work, only other women are cleaning staff.

I am still tackling it as it is a picture of the motors we work on and it is for my Hubby I really need to work on it and get it finished next year.

What type of pictures are hanging on your wall?

I have 2 that are of the kids, 1 is a family picture, 7 pictures of airplanes  and a framed sheet of airplane stamps.

:kitty: It's got to be 'Strictly' as I met my husband when I was learning ballroom dancing. (We were in our twenties at the time !!) Also 'Dancing with the Stars' I reckon Maya will win that one......but haven't a clue who would win ours. We Brits always go for the under-dog.

No. I have coloured my hair - there was a long time when I had it dyed blond, now it is just highlited with blond stripes (so that those strange white stripes cannot be seen that much :) ) but never regretted it. :)

Do you iron things like bed linen, towels, socks... Or only shirts and blouses? Or nothing?

We haven't eaten yet tonight, still thinking about what to fix. Last night we had chicken nuggets, waffle fries, mixed veggies and ice cream.

Do you prefer computer games, video console games (like XBOX) or board games? Or maybe you like cards.

I like all at different times. I'll happily play strategy games on the computer like Settlers or Civilization if others are busy. After dinner though and over Christmas and other holidays, I love playing board games. I also like card games, particularly solo whist, though I'm still trying to teach hubby what taking tricks means when playing cards. Oh and I know something like 15 or 16 different varieties of patience

What's the funniest/most peculiar/most frustrating thing anyone has ever said about your cross stitch? (A really good friend of ours once came to stay and hadn't seen me stitching before and came out with "so what bits have you done?" - erm the stitched bits obviously   )

I was in the lobby at church working on one of my embroidery projects and someone asked me, "What are you doing, crocheting?". (What!)

Where is the strangest place that you've taken your project to work on?

Beaulieu autojumble, the biggest fair for classic/vintage car parts and paraphernalia in the UK. DH and I have a stand there, and when there is an occasional lull insales/customers asking questions I do a few stitches. One year I took my crochet and a man said "I don't think I've ever seen anyone knit here!" I said "you still haven't :-)"

I honestly can't do any tea.. I think it stems from a bad experience when I was a child and my mom took me a to a little tea shop.. The lady was like a evil dictator who forcefully made me sit straight.. lol..
