Ideas for a music-themed biscornu
OK, here's a little background first.
My mum's family are VERY musical. By comparison, I'm really not. In my time, I've played the piano, violin and clarinet, and I can sing...and I'm *not* that musical by this family's standards. My mum signed up both myself and my brother for piano lessons from a young age, if I had to guess I'd say I was about 5. The lady who taught us was called Mrs Gibbs. She seemed very old to me, but at that point anyone over the ago of 30 seemed very old. I know that she was widowed so I have to assume that she was older than 30! She later had a "lodger" (many many years later I realised that he was her partner) move in with her. His name was Mr Cathers and she is now Mrs Cathers, although she'll always be Mrs Gibbs to me.
My parents were still in contact with Mrs Gibbs until my mother became ill. My father then contacted pretty much everyone they knew asking them to write to mum to give their support, and something which in retrospect should've been very predictable happened. Everyone wrote...once. I'm sure everyone was still thinking of my parents, but they didn't think to write again. The one exception was Mrs Gibbs, she wrote religiously every two weeks. Her first husband died of cancer, which is what eventually took my mum, and she understood how important this support was. It's a couple of years now since my mum died, and Mrs Gibbs still writes sometimes, and Dad still writes to her sometimes. He sent her some postcards from the US earlier in the year, and she's written back with her news and sending her best wishes to my brother and his fiancee.
Her news is less good. In my dad's words, "A blood clot has left her blind in one eye, and a hospital infection has left her weak and unable to leave the house for the last few weeks, and when she does get fit enough her next trip will be back to the hospital for investigation of a throat problem." As I said, I have no idea how old this lovely lady actually is, but I would think she's at least in her 70s now. I have some wonderful buttons that I got as part of a set, and I thought they'd be wonderful to make into a biscornu for her as a Christmas gift to let her know that I still think of her. I've got a pair of grand pianos, a pair of treble clefs and a pair of quavers. Now all I need is a musical biscornu, has anyone by any chance seen any kind of music-based chart that would work?

Have spent quite a time looking for freebies but haven't really come up with anything. Perhaps you could do something like piano keys all around - there is a plastic canvas pattern here, and shouldn't be too difficult to do a few notes.

Well, I googled for about 20 minutes then got fed up of it and reverted to designing something. I'll post up pictures when the designing's done, I think it'll stitch up pretty quickly because it'll probably basically be black on white...

Re: Ideas for a music-themed biscornu
I don't know of anything for a biscornu but I have got a couple of charts with music notes, a treble cleff and also an electronic keyboard but you could change it into just the keys and they are four sttches high by however many youwant wide by repeating the pattern. You are very welcome to borrow them if you think they will help, pm me your address and I will pop them in the post

A wonderful idea to do that for her, and a great design -- not having learnt music at all, I'm assuming the Green Bus and Face things are aide-memoirs, to help you remember notes or something similar? I really like the simplicity of the black and white, it'll make the buttons stand out beautifully!

Yep - when looking at a stave of music, the notes in the spaces between the lines (in the treble clef) are F, A, C and E - the face in the spaces. The notes on the lines are E, G, B, D and F - Every Green Bus Drives Fast (or Every Good Boy Deserves Football!)

Re: Ideas for a music-themed biscornu
This is a wonderful idea.
Both my boys have piano lessons and their teacher uses 'All cows eat grass' for the spaces on the base clef and I think the other one (on the lines) was 'Good boys don't fight anyone'.
For the treble clef just FACE in the spaces and the lines 'Every good boy does fine'. Don't know if that's any help but thought I'd just say anyway.

I love your design KK.

So...I washed this and it frayed pretty badly. It's now going to be a patch on a bag!
