Re: TK's Light of Peace Update 12/2
Well, I figured out last night that I need to do 400 stitches a day to have the stitching and french knots done by the 22nd. That would give me a couple of days to do the outlining and frame it. Why am I cutting it close again this year????
Small update on my grandmother--The doctors are still looking at her high blood pressure and low heart rate as the cause of everything. They are also checking to see if her dimentia (sp?) is getting worse. As of right now, they are guessing that she will be released late this week, but she will not be able to go home. She is so weak and prone to falling--she can't even support her own weight to stand up--that it is not safe for her to be at home. My mom and uncle are out checking on the two rehab facilities that she has qualified for today. The doctors are saying that she would be in "short term" which means a few months in their terms. It all depends on how much my grandma works to get back home. We were all amazed when Mom explained the situation to her and she was fine with it!
Her fear has always been that she would get to be too much for my mom to handle and that she would put her in a nursing home. I guess she actually realizes how bad she is right now and that she needs help. We will be able to bring her home for the family Christmas party, but we're looking at her being in a wheelchair most, if not all, of the time now.
My mom is holding up really well! We kind of go through the same thing most of the time that she goes into the hospital. My concern is for my mom because she hasn't lived on her own for a VERY long time! (I grew up living with my mom, grandma, and grandpa.) I know she'll be fine, plus we'll definitely plan our usual get togethers with the kids.
Sorry, this was supposed to be a short update.

Well I sure do hope everything is going to be okay with your grandmother! That can be so stressful and I hope your mom is able to cope with it okay.
As for your deadline, well it's doable and I already know you can finish stuff on tight deadline's. Hopefully you can get some time to yourself to get your stitching in! It really looks great so far!

Re: TK's Light of Peace Update 12/2
I'll try to post an updated picture later today. I had a really good catch up day yesterday! I was about 1700 stitches behind schedule and managed to do just over 1100 of those. Now when I include what I have to do today, I'm just under 1000 stitches short of my schedule. Unfortunately I have errands to run today and a textbook adoption meeting tonight for DS's school. And, even though I'll see her at the family's Christmas party Sunday, I'm going to stop in to see my grandma tonight after the meeting. Now, if I can just have a couple more days like yesterday, it will be great!!

That's a tough situation regarding your mother and grandmother. I can understand the guilt though. At least your family is visiting as often as you can... some families sign the papers and don't turn back! How horrible! I hope your mom is able to cope with being by herself. Maybe it will only be for a few months at most like they say
Good luck with your deadline!

Well, here's where I am. I counted up last night, and I have about 1900 stitches left. That doesn't include the backstitch and the several hundred french knots (I'm afraid to count how many). Hopefully I can get the cross stitches done today and tomorrow so I have time for everything else. I need a few more days of 1100+ stitches.

Re: TK's Light of Peace Update 12/18
Well, unfortunately I missed out on another 2-3 days of stitching due to my family's Christmas party (42 people!) since I was helping my mom with the food and organizing the house. I got a decent amount done on Monday, and I counted up what was left last night. The good news is that I've only got a little over 300 stitches left along with the backstitch. Hopefully I can get most, if not all, of that done today once I actually pick up the stitching. The one thing I wish I didn't count last night were the french knots. Unless I really counted wrong, there's over 1100
of them to do!! Any guesses on how long that will take?
DH keeps telling me that if it's not done by Christmas Day that we can still show it to MIL to let her know that it's coming. She would be very understanding, especially with everything that's been going on with my grandma lately (the rehab facility is now saying at least 90-100 days instead of the original 60). I have until 11 or so Christmas Day morning to have it framed and ready to go. Does anyone have a turbo needle I can borrow??
