Yeah, it's Tunisian Crochet here too. I only call it knitting when I'm doing the knit stitch. The 'square' stitches you're talking about are from doing the simple stitch, also known as the afghan stitch. There are hundreds of Tunisian stitches out there. I only know a few that I can find on the internet. There is an Encyclopedia of Tunisian Crochet book here: http://www.chezcrochet.com/page62.html that I would love to have.Mabel Figworthy wrote:I did a baby jacket in Tunisian work years ago -- oddly enough in Dutch it's known as Tunisian crochet rather than Tunisian knitting, probably because of the hook! I've still got one, might give it another try sometime -- I remember that because the stitches are actually square, you could do patterns using cross stitch charts.

Well I don't know if I'll ever finish that sweater, I think I'm going to run out of that yarn and also I've lost weight~threadbear~ wrote:Great video's, thanks for showing them.
Please do show a picture of your sweater when you can though, I'd love to see the effect of it.

But here are the slippers I did in Tunisian knit stitch:

Re: Knitting anyone?
I love knitting, at the moment I am knitting a pram cover, it's made up of 48 squares and also a baby cardigan.
I am really interested in the tunisian knitting, might have to try and get hold of a hook don't think I've seen them in my local LNS and give it a go some time

I'm an occasional knitter but I seem to find it hard to keep my tension right - end up with scarves that look wonky!Advice anyone?
Re: Knitting anyone?
I love knitting, at the moment I'm working on an Amigurumi blade of grass for myself and a scarf for a friend. And I'm still trying to work out just how to knit in the round... It's so hard!
Please take a look at my cross stitch blog All my cross stitch related random rants, finished and unfinished projects, kits or charts I'm looking at getting and more:

Hi Diane,Diane C wrote:Hi I am an avid knitter and own a online shop called Peggys Knits - I am currentely making some socks for my mum's 60th next month - if you knit what are you working on at the moment?
I just finished a cotton twin set in cream colour with 'feather' panels. Now I've started a 'Maritime' blue cardi with fringes on the bottom and cuffs. That's in between cross stitching and quilting.
How are your socks progressing?

Re: Knitting anyone?
I like knitting, but my shoulders do not let me knit too much. So I must switch between knitting and needlepoint just to spare either my fingers or my shoulders.
