Having seen Mabels Hardanger and seen last months new stitches projects I decided to give it a go. However beacause of my fixation on symatry I have had to adapt the pattern.
What do you think ?
I also had a go at one of the coasters using Caron threads.
The Hardanger has come out beautifully and the coaster is so colourful, I really liked what she did with all the stitches on those. for trying new things -- and doing them so well at the first try too!

Thanks Mabel you inspired me to give it a go!
It looked so scary but it was OK once I worked out how to do it.
Santa is bringing me the Anchor Hardanger book but I couldn't wait to start!
I started to do some hardanger last year, but didn't get far with it... now I will take it out, too, I think

Well done Kerry you have some lovely work there. How did you enjoy the hardanger project - I have been trying this too and am really enjoying it. It's good to stitch something that doesn't involve constantly looking at a pattern sometimes. Although the cutting out bits are very scary (not sure how I'm going to pluck up the courage to do this in my Roses Runner SAL). I love your coaster too - Caron threads are so beautiful to work with. I would love to start a collection of them, but they are so expensive, especially the silk Waterlilies

Wow terrific! I still haven't gotten any courage to try hardanger but I can see the appeal of wanting to try it! You did fantastic at it! I love your coaster too!

What beautiful pieces! I've been hankering to try some hardanger but have been too scared to give it a go. However, watching some of the projects memebers here have done has made me determined that 2010 will be the year that I at least try it once!
I would love to get good enough at it to try a Judy Dixon piece. One day (after a lot more practise) I'm going to give it a go - maybe that can be my New Year resolution several years from now

These have worked out really well. I think the original hardanger design was asymmetrical because it was designed to fit into a Quick Frame. Your take on it is really nice. The coaster is good, too (a really interesting Master Class, I thought).
