HAED - Ancient Dragon Scholar - 2/1/2010 PAGE 2 COMPLETE

Post by cinderella4282 »

After finding this forum, I started seeing all the HAED projects and thought I would check it out. I have been looking for a good dragon pattern for a long time, and when I stumbled on this one I knew I had to try it. Even if it takes me the next ten years! (My OH was excited to about this one too)

I'm stitching this on 28 ct. jobelene. I am stitching over 1 strand on the fabric with 1 strand of the DMC using the full cross stitch.

This is my first HAED design and I am already in awe. I am working on a "boring" part of the design, but the intricacy of that is amazing. I can't wait to see what it's like when I start getting to the more detail-oriented parts of the design! When this project is done, it's going to be hard to tell that it's a cross stitch piece of art.

I like him!! And you're right, the shading on HAEDs is really magical, as soon as the picture starts to emerge from being blobs of colour :D Great that your OH likes it too, you should have plenty of encouragement!

Kerbear879 - The new dragon design, Unleashed is very cool. The reds and blacks are a cool contrast.

On a road trip today, so I hope to get Page 1 done by the weekend so I can post a new pic!!

HAED - Ancient Dragon Scholar - UPDATE January 3, 2010

Post by cinderella4282 »

So . . . stitching on 28 count is not very fun in a moving vehicle. So I didn't get as much done as I wanted =( But a trip to see my mom in Chicago and a trip to a local needlework shop scored me a Q-snap frame. SOOOOOO excited. It's awesome. Keeps the fabric nice and tight and there are no sharp edges to tear up my wrists (the wing nuts on the scroll frames always hurt me).

:D

I did make some more progress though. I'm getting a little sick of the browns, but I do love the shading and detail.
