The mice are very cute and I love the robot alphabet, so much detail in each letter.

Both are so good! I wouldn't be that sure that he will not like the robots when he is older, though

The nickname only makes it more special -- he may want to put it away for a few years when he is "that difficult age" :-) but when he then finds it again it'll be all the more precious!

As for the Marlitt, even if it doesn't quite match the prescribed Anchor shades, as long as they look suitable fruity surely that's fine?

"Suitably fruity" ha ha, that made me laugh!

I went to Hobbycraft today to try and match the skeins. Actually I didn't do too badly but there was one dusty pink colour for which there seemed to be no like-match. Hobbycraft doesn't carry the whole range of Anchor or DMC satins so I noted the colours down which did match and I'm going to do some more online research for the remaining pink colour. I am sure I can find something. As you say Mabel, no one will know if it's not the exact colour, as long as it looks like it belongs with the others.

I'm sure you've all experienced this, but it was the oddest thing - I was busy stitching 'B' last night, and it got to midnight and husband announced he was going up to bed. Fine, I thought, I'll just finish this bit of backstitch then it's done. I'm not kidding, it seemed like 20 mins had passed and I looked up at the clock and it was 1.30am! An hour and a half had flown by!! I was so shocked I had to check the time on the oven and on Ceefax to really believe it was 1.30am.

And I think I've sourced the satins for the Mice fruits. :D I have a box of cheap satins off eBay and some DMC and Marlitt Satins in my stash. A couple of the colours don't match the original cottons exactly, but the satins themselves all look good together. I'll stitch up a fruit and if they don't work, I'll revert to the original cottons.

Slinky, I've got several pinks in DMC satin and Marlitt, if you let me know what number you're looking for I could see if I've got it and send you some.

What a great idea converting the fruit colors to satin. That will give a great effect, I think! Sounds like it's a tough job finding all the colors you need, but it will be worth it! And if it doesn't work out, at least you have more stash??
