Framing advice please...

Post by alx008 »

Hi I have just completed the above to match another born free design which i did years ago - i am having trouble framing it.
Usually I frame my own works in a very amateur but ok way but this one is a funny size and difficult to stretch properly.
Do you frame your own stuff and if not who does it for you? I had a john clayton framed once and it cost at least £50 and more i think.
Is it difficult to get some coloured board from the art shop and cut it to size to frame the pic? any advice welcome!

So far I have framed all of mine due to the cost of having them done. I am very much an amateur but on a couple of occasions, especially if for any reason you need a slightly different size I have bought the cardboard mount which they will happily cut to my required size. I go to a picture framing shop for this. You can see in my gallery 'The Teacher' was one and also 'White Lace' I had the card cut for. hope this helps

To most framing shops, a sale is a sale, whether you get the whole thing done or just one small component. I've never had difficulty and often have only required the mat to be cut.

Great thanks - that's just what I need. Will look for a framing shop. The one I had done before was done at the art shop where i bought my kit and i think they sent it away to be done so perhaps that added to the cost.
