Hardanger Practise - Peridot Finished 07/02/10

Post by SusanF »

Ok, I got cold feet when I got to the hardanger part of my Roses Runner project, so I've decided to try to complete some practise projects first. I've got a couple of little hardanger projects in my stash and have been working on one of these all week. It's a Classic Embroidery kit called Pearl. Here's how I've been getting on:

and with all the satin stitching complete:

Then I added the Algerian eyelets:

And finally cut the threads:

Hopefully I'll be able to post the finished piece with the weaving and other still-mysterious stitches completed this weekend :D :D

Thank you   My OH says it's the best thing I've stitched (and normally he takes no interest in it at all). If anyone is thinking of trying hardanger I would thoroughly recommend the Classic Embroidery series of kits. They are quite small and each use only a small number of different stitches. They also come with really good instructions and diagrams on how to work each stitch.

This morning I'm stitching woven bars (easy), picot stitch (a bit like french knots and horrible to do :( ) and dove's eye filling (not too bad once you get the hang of it).

For Christmas I got the 'Easing into Hardhanger' book by Mary Hickcote but so far have only tried the kloster blocks using 2 strands of DMC thread on a piece of 14ct aida, I just wanted to try the cutting bit. I have started buying hardhanger charts for bookmarks, coasters and even wedding samplers so just hope I can do it

I'm off to look at Classic Embroidery kits
