I like my fabric to be tight enough to bounce a penny off of it. Do Q-snaps allow you to keep the fabric that tight? (I've also been considering trying q-snaps instead of my trusty old hoop, but didn't want to waste the money if I wasn't going to like them.)

I like a very tight stretch for stitching also and I love my Q-snaps.

I also like mine tight and love my q snaps. I have had some sort of loosen but I just went and bought some i dont know how to describe it but its mesh and squishy type cupboard liner you get a roll for a dollar at the dollar store, anyhow I cut a little piece and put that in there and it makes it even more snug i love it.

Andrea--thanks for the suggestion to use "kitchen mesh type of thing" to tighten the Q Snap. My clamps have stretched from years of quilting.

I use all sorts of frames, depending on what I'm doing, how many projects I have on the go at once  and so on. Comes of collecting all this stuff since I started stitching back in Castle Times. I find that my Q snaps can be encouraged to work in my floor stand...

I don't have to go and buy any as I have three rolls of it from when I had my previous sofa and it was great to help keep the cushions in place. The current one is constructed differently and they are gathering dust. I just came across this stuff the day you posted. Must be meant to be!

I just got my 1st snap frame and I think its awesome!! its so easy and quick to load the fabric in and quick to get the tension in!! :) I haven't used my hoop since I got it..... but I think I will use it for smaller projects.

I use both and I love both :)

I have large Q snap which has been wonderful for my needlepoint project and yes, I have found that it keeps a tight tension.

I do have a little preference for my higher end wooden hoops when I'm using hoops but I also use the plastic Susan Bates ones as well :)

As long as it doesn't weigh a ton and keeps my work tight, I actuall don't mind too much :)

But I definitely would recommend Qsnap for anyone who wants to try frames especially for the first time as they are light and easy to assemble.
