Colour sugestion please!

Post by HalbertMusik »

Hello all-

I am doing a pattern from a magazine (Dein Kreuzstich Magazin 6/2009) which has a nighttime scene of a snowy church on an Aida Navy Blue background. I am down to the final, last colour on the pattern and the only problem is that the pattern calls for Madeira 342 and noone around here carries Madeira - mostly DMC and Anchor. What would be a good substitue for this metallic colour?

Mille Grazie,

I have found a Madeira - DMC conversion chart but it does not contain the number you have - at least I didn't find it. Perhaps you can take another look:

Edit:

I haven't found it in any chart, but found it in my bag of metallic threads. It seems very similar in colour to Anchor 301, but Madeira is much softer and easier to work with. I would suggest you order online if you can, it's worth the trouble. Unfortunately I don't have silver DMC to compare with.

Thanks for the suggestion - maybe I should order it online, I would just rather give my money to the local shops... But if there is really no other choice,

You could always check with your local store if they can get it in? They may be able to put in the extra order they just don't usually stock it as there's not much call for it.
