It doesn't feel as if I've made much progress on this over the past week during my lunchtimes (although I got over an hour and a half to stitch on it yesterday when I ran out of work - funny how you can have 3 jobs all needed at the same time and then nothing!) and I also took it to the stitching group I go to Thursday nights so I think that when I look at the photos side by side progress has been made...

perhaps you've mentioned this before, but what is your gridding done with? Is it light thread or a pen/pencil of some sort?

The gridding on this one is done with a sewline pencil (similar to a pacer where you can put in coloured leads).
