Euro artists

Post by ivanputz »

I have noticed the beauty of a couple of European artists recently. One is Eva Rosenstand and the other is Thea Governeur (sp?). Just curious if anyone has done pieces by either of these 2 artists and how they turned out. Thanks.

Hi Ivanputz, I have an UFO by Thea Gouverneur called Letterlap, I found some areas of the chart very difficult to read in the more condensed bits, this is due to it being a hand drawn chart, not computer.
The fabric supplied was very fine linen, and I found it hard to keep my place.
You may be getting an idea as to why it remains unfinished.
A few years ago I did the letter A for my mother from the chart on different fabric and found that a lot easier, still did not help with the hard to read chart though

I'm completing a design by Eva Rosenstand which my son bought for me. It's a bell pull, and the design is of wild flowers. Here's the link in SewandSo:

I'm finding it OK and the chart is easy enough to read. In fact, I normally make charts bigger, so that I can read them properly, but I've not had to do it with this one. The fabric is fine too - 25 ct linen. The colours are lovely and I'm looking forward to finishing it so that I can hang it on my wall.

I like Eva Rosenstand, and have several her project in my “wish list”, but don’t stitch any one yet.

It is my favorite:

Hi, I'm new to this forum but I came upon this topic through Google and I had to reply.

I've completed several Rosenstand designs, as has my mother and a close friend, and I have a couple more as wips. Overall they are my favourite designs to stitch, the charts are nice, big and clear and I love the fabric included in the kits. I also like the variety and the size of the pictures. While I am guessing most of the designs are based on paintings, the finished products look like a cross stitch picture and not like a painting (that designs from companies like HAED or Mystic Stitch will produce).

I have not finished a Thea Governeur design yet (I do have the map of the Netherlands as a wip though) but a friend of mine has stitched her King Tut design and overall her designs tend to be more detailed oriented and painting like then Rosenstand.

Here are some of my completed projects:

And two from my mom, the first one is my favourite. The last picture is Thea's King Tut, stitch by a friend of mine.

Hope I helped!

AnnaM: you've done some wonderful stitching! The Owl is especially beautiful. I agree with you about Eva Rosenstand, although I've never done any of her designs (hopefully I will someday!). I have done a few Lanarte kits, and they tend to be like ER, and no basktitching/ outlining!

Welcome AnnaM to the forum. So pleased you joined us. You've done some fantastic work. I haven't tried either of those designers but just maybe after seeing your work I shall have a look at some of their stuff.

Well, I have to agree with Wendy. These pictures look so good that I too got the feeling I want to do some of these.

Hi Anna and welcome

Your pictures are wonderful - far too large for me to attempt I'm afraid. :?

Hi Anna and welcome.
I've seen these artists and have also bought a Chattelaine (sure I didn't spell that one right!). I'm into the big projects myself mostly working on Mirabilias.

Welcome to the forum Anna, I'm glad you googled and got us.

Your stitching is marvellous, BTW.
