Can't wait to see you start! I am anxious to finish because I can't wait to start on my next design, and I only do one at a time.

Very nice work! I love the shading of the trees. I also tend to do the backstitching last most of the time.

I know it has only been 2 days, but I am posting a small update. I stitched all evening tonight while my husband watched the Super Bowl. I finished a large background tree so I wanted to post my progress as a reward. Some times it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel! I have a piece I am anxious to stitch, so I want to zoom through this one.

I am going to do Footprints for my sister, which is my first venture into evenweave.

After that I am going to do my first HAED, and the first piece I stitch for myself! I have the chart, fabric, and all 132 skeins of floss and they are screaming at me to start!

The eagle is beautiful, and after a whole tree you certainly deserve a progress picture :-)!

I'm looking forward to your HAED, it's such a lovely design!

Thank you everyone. I am making good time on the trees. I am stitching this, but always have my next project in my mind, lol.

Stitching the poem looks a little intimidating, but think of it as 4 blocks of stitching to make a cross shape. There is no stitching on the cross, only back stitching the poem. It is on evenweave stitched over 2.

I don't really remember the poem being that bad to do. :thinks: I don't remember the order that I stitched everything in, but I think I did the bottom two rectangles and then did the lettering in between that part. Then I think I moved up to the lettering in the middle before doing the title and the two small squares at the top. I definitely did not save the poem for last! I actually liked watching the poem slowly forming. As for how big it is maemae, mine is hanging in a 16"x20" frame with about 2" of mount on each side. There's a finished picture in my gallery.

Busy B - How did you start off back stitching the poem? I don't want to make knots if I don't have to. So I am not sure how to stop and start without any cross stitches to tuck my floss under when I stop and start.

Actually, I'm pretty sure I did use knots. I didn't start using the loop method or running ends under stitches until my most recent projects. I had always used knots to start and end before that. Sorry I can't be more help!

I'll have to look to be sure, but I am hoping that the back stitching for the poem is done with 2 so I can use the loop method. I also just started using the loop method which is so convenient! :D

I've been busy with a new job lately that is limiting my stitching time. I used to stitch only when I could sit down and get a get hour or two in, but now I compromise. Even if it is only 15 mins, I try and get some stitching in.

Here you can see my background trees are coming along. I have stayed up late to get some stitching in tonight, and I plan to work on it more tomorrow.
