Netties Afghan

Post by nettie »

So the afghan starts I finally have the alphabet and fabric sorted after a two week headache! I had originally decided to do the Beatrix Potter alphabet but I haven't been able to find afghan material that it will fit onto except for one place which I am really struggling to contact. So now I am going to do this

http://www.country-designs.co.uk/Produc ... 05749.aspx

on this fabric

http://www.wimblebees.com/pd_F[f]Z01[f] ... _White.htm

it says the squares ar 8" x 8" but it is more like 6" x 6"

This evening I will gather my threads together and make a start although I cannot get the chart copied until next weekend as my office doesn't have a colour copier!

Well the afghan nearly went in the bin yesterday evening. I logged off here to get it started and an hour later I stil had only managed one stitch. I had sorted all th threads out and worked out my starting point and threaded my needle. The material is actually more like evenweave than aida and as the the squares are twice as big as I needed for that chart I thought I would try and do it over two. Well the coverage was terrible even with my needle threaded with four strands. so I tried three over one square as normal and after 4 stitches realised the designs will be dwarfed by the squares.

So back to the Beatrix Potter ABC which I do prefer really. It means I am going to have to play with the W to make it fit as the squares are 96w x 96h and the W is 102 stitches wide but I think I can shave a couple off each section of the W either that or overlap it over the character with it. If anyone has the chart could you have a look and see if you can help me shave it down????

Rose - I have put the has in bold and underlined so that it shows I am only asking those who own the chart to look and help so there is no copyright query is that ok?!

I'll try and take a picture of the start later!

Hope you get the W sorted out Nettie. The other design is pretty, but I am a Beatrix Potter fan as far as the illustrations go, so looking forward to to more BP updates.
