karen4bells' first Haed--Lady of the Woods--updated May 13th

Post by karen4bells »

I finally got my fabric the end of last week and started stitching on my very first HAED--Lady of the Woods. It's being done on 25 count lugana using half stitches 2 over 1--slow going but it's getting better as I go. She will be 18 inches wide by 12 1/4 inches tall when finished!
Here's a picture of the design

And here is my progress as of midnight last night

Quite an undertaking! It's a beautiful design and you've gotten a lot done in a short period of time! How many colors are there in it? Keep posting more pictures as soon as you can :applesauce:

Thanks everyone---it's coming along pretty well if I must say so.
As for the amount of colors, there are 89 of them and I've def used a lot of them already--just now getting to a section where I don't have to change threads quite so often

Karen, I've only ever stitched on aida cloth. I was just wondering if the design you're making would compare to 14, 16, or 18 ct. aida? Is the whole design going to be half stitches or are there whole as well?

Hi Pamelam---the entire project will be using 1/2 stitch since the count of the fabric is so small--I opted to use 2 threads and work half stitches rather than working full stitches using one thread. It's quite a bit smaller than even the 18 count aida--which I love stitching on. I must say I love working on evenweaves and linen too, just usually don't work them over 1 like this one is being done.
