I've just found this thread and seen your Mum's beautiful crocheted shawl. I'm sure she must have been thrilled with it. Does she enjoy wearing it for special occasions?

oddly enough she wears it around the house most, as she uses it to keep warm when curled up reading on the sofa!

Well she obviously appreciates it and is making good use of it. Did you follow a pattern when you crocheted it?

Yes, and it's quite a simple and repetitive pattern (just two different rows), so it was quite quick to make, especially as i like crocheting shawls with a larger-than-recommended hook for a nice fluffy effect

SO pretty! Of course what makes it feel so good wearing it is all the love that went into every stitch!

What a pretty and delicate looking shawl! Lovely gift! I wish that I could crochet, but just never could get the hang of it. I've been knitting since I was eleven, but crocheting goes so much faster.
