Great progress, Wendy, I really love this one.

I know what you mean about those tricky beiges - I have heaps of trouble with the creams and pale yellows on cream fabric in my mermaid. Most of my stitching is done at night as well.

Roll on summer when we get light evenings!

Good progress :applesauce: And your gridding looks interesting, have you only marked the upright lines? Is it easy to follow?

This is my first attempt at gridding and I'm using light weight fishing line.

It's a very pale green (clear didn't show up against this fabric). I found this method on another site and it seems to work fine.

I learned about the fishing line from someone here on the forum. It is supposed to be easier to pull out once you've finished, as you can't stitch through it like you can thread.

I can't seem to find any washable pens anywhere (plus marking up the fabric makes me nervous  ), so thought I'd give it a try.

I just bought a clip-on magnifier to try, so we'll see if that makes the shades of beige any easier to see.

And thanks, everyone, for the lovely comments and encouragement! . :D

Not making quick progress, but I did actually get to stitch something besides beige! Couldn't resist doing the flame, so stitched my way down there . . .
