Hi everyone and I'm in a great mood because I just found this site. I am by nature a crafty person and for the last few years have been knitting constantly but unfortunatly due to the ravages of time and inpending old age (ugh I'm 56) I've got the dreaded arthritis and one of the joints in my left hand is extremely bad and painfull. So I've been thinking about what I could do to still continue crafting. One of the ladies I work with suggested cross stitch and I thought "hmmm" that might work.... so here I am
I did some free style cross stitch many years ago on a gift for my mother (flowery designs on pillow covers) and I'm thinking yes let me try cross stitching again.
So here I am, off to the craft store later today to see what I can find to get started. Hello everyone and have a great day.
Oh I'm English, born and raised in London but have lived in America for over 30 yrs and as my name says am in ATL (Atlanta)
Hi Susan, and welcome to the forum from another Susan! Have a look in our SAL section for lots of ideas for different types of cross stitching - you're bound to find something you like. I'm not sure if you can see the Gallery, or if you need to post some more first, but there's lots of inspiration there too. And do let us know how you get on at your craft store - we love photos of stash

wow, what a lovely surprize to see so many replies. Thanks everyone.
Well I stopped at 2 stores this afternoon Hobby Lobby and Michael's. Standing there in both locations not having a clue what to get. I decided it was better to go with a kit to start out with. I found a counted cross stitch for dummies of some flowers and a hummingbird that has everything needed in it (I hope) and then a kit that is a picture of 2 girls holding hands on the beach with the saying "nothing can separate friends" I'm going to change the word "friends" to "sisters" and hopefully be able to give it to my sister as a birthday gift.
so there it is, I'm ready and raring to go. wish me luck
have a great evening everyone.
Sounds like you had a very enjoyable time at the craft stores and that you've chosen some very nice projects to start on!! Good luck, hope to see some pictures of your progress on them soon
