Hello everyone.. yes it's been a long time since i've been here.. sorry ... I keep forgetting to login.. I'll have to be better at that..

But I have a question, I have a larger project that I'm going to start working on, large enoug I had to get a frame..

Now, I bought some of these cheap Sorting Cards.. They are basically a long cardboard deal with a bunch of holes in it so you can loop floss in and keep it handy.. my question is.. how does one do the "Loop".. When I tried it became a long tangled out mess..

Do any of you have a better solution for mobile large project, probably about 15 colors?

I'd use my holder, but this project is too large for that DMC holder, so I thought these little holders would be nice.

Any suggestions?

For a visual, the holders I'm talking about are LIKE these, but not these exactly

Cut your thread to size.
Fold the thread in half to create a loop at one end.
Push the loop through the holes.
Pull the set of ends through the loop.
Pull tight.

Sorted.

Gotcha.. that's where I screwed it up.. I didn't cut the thread before hand.. that would explain why it unravled..

Can't do any better than Angel's explanation. I use these too for all my projects and find that if I cut my thread to my stitching lengths first (usually about 50cm), this helps with tangling issues later down the line. Also, if you run out of sorting cards, they can easily be made from cereal boxes and a hole punch.

Ahh yeah. I bought a bunch cause I think they were like 3 for a dollar when I bought 'em..

I do this too, it's where all the cereal boxes in my house end up!
Also I try to keep it down to just a few lengths in the holes and keep the rest of the skein on its bobbin, makes it easier to pull off a new length and thread the rest of the strands through

Yeah, I try to have no more than ten lengths of thread in a hole at any one time.

I usually end up using an old manilla folder and punch holes in it.

By the way, the loop knot you all are talking is technicall called a Lark's Head.
