Hi again!
I've been wanting to purchase a lap stand to go with my 18" scroll frame, and this one caught my eye, the Z-shape Needlework Lap Frame.

Does anyone here have experience using this stand? Do you think an 18" scroll frame is too large for it to handle? If no one is familiar with this stand, can anyone recommend a similar alternative product?
Thanks in advance for your responses!

Re: Lap stand for 18" scroll frame
I too am looking for a scroll frame but a floor standing one. I see they have the one I am thinking of getting and it was interesting to read the comments about it.
The Z frame you are looking at certainly looks sturdy but might it be rather heavy as a lap frame???? Just a thought.
Thanks for putting up the web site, its a big help.

Re: Lap stand for 18" scroll frame
I am starting to think that lap stands in general are rather unpopular with prolific stitchers. I guess I'll give the stand a pass. If no one is willing to support a product, I guess the product is not that useful.

Re: Lap stand for 18" scroll frame
I changed my mind again and decided that I do want a lap stand after all.
K-creations just got back to me by email. They recommend the Z-shape lap stand for a maximum scroll frame size of 18".
I found another similar lap stand that might be of interest to anyone following thread.
The ELAN lap stand by Artisan designs is a lot better built, features a universal clamp able to handle any scroll frame or q-snap and is able to take on scroll frames up to 30" wide. The stand is about $10 more expensive than the Z-shape lap stand, but I think if it delivers on its promises, it is well worth the extra cost ($78 + Shipping and handling).
Here's the link for anyone wanting to check out the product.

I've added this product to my wishlist. I'm hoping to own one by Christmas.

Re: Lap stand for 18" scroll frame
I have been looking at scroll frame stand, lap stand, etc but my question is how do u turn over the frame to end the stitches or to get the needle over, etc.... Is there a screw that u loosen up to turn the frame over? I have many different sizes of frames but I use my hands to hold one side of the frame to stitch with the other hand. I think it is because I am self-taught and didn't know about needlework stand to hold the frames before.....also some stitchers use just their hands when holding their materials. I tried that and I can only be successful if the design is small....not large like HAEDs.

Re: Lap stand for 18" scroll frame
Both models described here allow for easy flipping of the frame to reach the back. If you look at the clamp, there is a little knob on the size that you can loosen and tighten. When you loosen the knob, the frame can be rotated as you wish, whether you want to reach the front or back. When you have reached your desired position, you just re-tighten the knob. If you look at the Artisan Designs website, click on "Design and Function", and they give you little diagrams of the functional capability of each stand they carry. Below are the links you can check out.socialsue wrote:I have been looking at scroll frame stand, lap stand, etc but my question is how do u turn over the frame to end the stitches or to get the needle over, etc.... Re: Lap stand for 18" scroll frame
i have a stitchmaster seat frame available for buy or trade
http://www.siestaframes.com/acatalog/ta ... tands.html" target="_blank
it has to little pegs that the frame just rests on, no clamping at all.
maemae enquired about postage for it and it was £10 (think it was a bit more but cant remember), but it may give you another choice
