Wild Thing Birth Annoucement

Post by Pengwenn »

Here is a project I started a couple of years ago and then put aside. It's for my nephew who's almost 2 1/2 years old now. I'm starting it again for UFO week hoping to get the panda panel done.

Here's what it should look like:

Here's what I've done so far:

I think I know why I put it away. It's a kit and the colors were a pain to seperate. Some of them were still bunched together when I pulled it out again. I hate it when a kit has similar colors but doesn't tell you how many threads you should have for each.

Also, it's on 14 ct fabric and the threads seem to be smaller (skinnier) than regular DMC so the x's are very prominent. Instead of each square blending together I see a lot of x's all over the place. I thought about using 3 threads instead of 2 but I don't want to run out of threads. I tried matching some of the colors up to regular DMC but I couldn't get an exact match for some of them. And some of them were way off the mark. I really wish kits didn't use their own brand and colors of floss; it would make things so much easier. (It's a Dimensions kit.)

After struggling with that seagull in my HAED on 25ct this is a welcome change though.
