For a while I've wanted to do a cross stitch as a gift to my dance teacher but all I could find that I liked were the cute animals in tutus (not really him). Then laying in bed a few weeks ago I remembered that he mentioned that he loved Degas dancers, and I know that a few companies would have converted the paintings to cross stitch so I searched the sites and found one that I thought was perfect. I really like the design (and I haven't told anyone but the people here that I plan on stitching it for my teacher) so if something happens between now and when I finish it, I don't HAVE to give it to my teacher.
Design details:
Artist: Edgar Degas
Company pattern came from: Scarlet Quince
Stitch count: 412 x 295 = 121,540
No of pages: 24 pages (normal print)
Fabric: 22ct cream hardanger
Threads: 79 different colours / 99 symbols (design uses blended threads)
Finished design:
I bought the fabric last night (one of the benefits of having a stitching group at a craft store...

, easy to pick something up when you need it!) and just spent my lunchtime at work gridding up the first column of pages, so I'm ready to start tomorrow night (tonight I'm finishing my second page on The Snow Family and getting together all the threads for tomorrows start)
