My partner Graeme has two main hobbies - World of Warcraft, and Warhammer. WoW is an online game which he enjoys very much, Warhammer is essentially a tabletop war game played in a fantasy world. He loves building the miniatures for it.
He's recently started building new miniatures out of spare parts left over from other sets he's bought. All the parts he's collected are currently still on the plastic "sheets" he has to cut them out of. It's cumbersome, it's awkward, it makes it difficult if all he's looking for is that one head he saw two days ago! I have a set of stash boxes I'm not going to use because they don't match my other bobbin boxes (one style for my Anchor threads and one for my DMC) and I have a little storage tower for my charms and other bits like that. I have therefore donated my stash boxes, which he has decided are perfect for his things, and the carry bag they came with, to his hobby We can occasionally draw parallels between our respective hobbies (and sometimes they are very shaky parallels) but this was the first time I'd really been able to constructively help him with his. It gave me a lovely warm feeling

I have a bit of a dilemma re the thread storage boxes I have - I keep thinking I could keep my arty paint tubes in them, and am thinking of getting some more for that purpose.

I have found my floss boxes are great for keeping beads in for my jewellery making too! I divide the beads up by colour and type and put some in each compartment. So much easier than keeping them in the little bags they come in when you buy them. In the boxes they're all ready to pick up when you want them.
CURRENT WIPs
HAEDs - Bubble Telescope, Floatilla, Rainbow Embrace, Ray of Light, Iron Dragon, Newport Lighthouse
Fractal 239 Aero Chocolate
Having mentioned Ceclia's suggestion to my dearly beloved last night, he is now aware that there are such things as needlecraft shows (which he'd never heard of previously), that I would like to go to one and have never been comfortable justifying the expense (which I've never mentioned because part of the reason I've not been able to justify the expense was his lack of employment and I didn't want to make him feel bad), and has offered to buy me a ticket for my birthday or Christmas present to the next one I fancy going to. Result!
