Ooh, pretty - but a bit round for my project (although I think there's a BIG possibility one will get made at some point in the future* - thanks for the link!), as I'm exclusively going for the ones that are pinched in at the middle with a button or bead for my basketful this year.

* I can also see me trying the pagoda pendabule - so pretty!

Just finished desinging my June biscornu, so I'll be starting stitching it in the next few days, just as soon as I've finished the ATC I'm working on. It's kind of experimental for me, so I hope the design works!

Did a good bit of stitching on the first face of my June biscornu and so far I'm rather pleased with how it's looking. I'll continue tomorrow and see how far I get with it...

Almost finished my June biscornu - will be putting the finishing touches to it tonight. It's lovely and zingy-looking - I've used the sparkly orange and yellow fabrics I got in the Polstitches grab bag and used bright pink and orange flosses.

And here it is, all finished! I designed it myself, so the design will be getting posted on my Kincavel Krosses blog for anyone who'd like to give it a try.





I thought I'd try a few specialty stitches this month. I pretty much stick exclusively to cross stitch and blackwork, so this was something of an experiment for me. I used:

- Rhodes squares
- Rhodes butterflies
- Algerian eyes
- Ray stitch
- French knots

I'm not particularly fond of French knots and thought it was about time I got over my dislike, so I decided to add quite a few to this design! I almost wimped out and used beads, but in the end, I plucked up the courage to go the whole hog and do the knots. I'm quite pleased with how they turned out and by the end of it; I think I'd finally got a bit more comfortable with doing them. I'm still not overly fond of them, but I know now that if it's required, I can do them and not have them look completely dreadful!

I used two sparkly fabrics I received in a Polstitches grab bag. Both are 28-count linens, but one is a light tangerine colour, the other is pale lemon, and they moth have a slightly mottled effect. In order to have a bright and contrasting biscornu, I chose to do my stitching in bright pink and orange. I had bought two little gold butterfly buttons for the centre, but as I decided to stitch over one instead of over two (as I had originally planned), they were too large for this project and I used two orange beads instead. Those little butterflies will definitely get used at some point in the future though - they're too pretty to leave!

So, here I am, half way through the year with half of my biscornu finished!

I have to tell you that this is not a new idea at all, if I remember well, our own Wendywombat has a big biscornu cushion on her website, am I right?

I do plan to do a few big bidcornu cushions at some point - but not this year. This year is all about the ornamental biscornu, but I will definitely get around to making some lovely cushion ones for my bedroom. I'd do them for the living room too, but we have a toddler and they'd last all of 5 seconds.
