Seeking Christian Patterns

Post by jdecar4 »

Does anybody have any Christian Patterns, such as a cross, a eucharist, a chalice, fish, etc., about 64 stitches wide by 64 stitches tall, for share or sale? I need these to complete a quilt I have been working of for several years.

Hallo Jim and welcome to the forum! I haven't been able to find any freebies, or smallish designs, but you could find some free Christian clip-art and use either a cross stitch program or gridded paper to turn them into charts. Good luck!

Hello

Sorry I don't have anything - have you looked at The Holy Needle - not free but there might be something there that will suit.

Rose & Mags,
Thank you for the lead to The Holy Needle. All the designs I see there are too large and complicated for what I want. I am seeking border designs that will compliment but not take away from the main pictures of my quilt.

Mabel Figworthy,
Thank you for the idea of clip-arts. I will see if I can use that. I have already sought religious designs in clip-art, but have not found anyting useful.

Sincerely,
Jim

Hi, there are some simple patterns in my PC Stitch library - patterns that I got with the program. Like a church, 22 X 28 stitches, a cross (15 x 30) and an angel (26 x 27).

I don't know if it is all right copyright-wise if I send you a copy of these patterns... Rose, what do you think?

I have just had a look at patternsonline and there are one or two that might be suitable, search for "inspirational". Also search for "borders". Might be worth looking at other online stores.

Agi I am not sure about sharing the patterns from your stitch program I would think that it is similar to an on-line pattern copyrighted by the company that produces the programming. So just like an individual design not allowed to share with out permission. Sorry Agi but this is a grey area and I would like to err on the side of caution.

Thank you, everyone for your suggestions.

As Mags suggested, I went patternsonline and I am considering going with one of the patterns suggested in the borders section.

Hi Jim
There is a website called http://www.christiancrossstitch.com" target="_blank which is purely made up of free patterns. They produce one a week and you can access the old patterns too.

Jim, did you ever think of making your own designs. It can be a hassle, and a lot of fun. That way you control size of pattren. I used to do pattrens for our church ladies when we were stationed in Belgium. Try doing a nice saying and art work in a 6-inch square of 14-count Aida, or even a Bible verse, and you'll know what I mean.

Jim, on the clipart theme, you might try here and here -- both are free, and may have some that you could use.

The clipart on this site are free for web use but not for print -- you could contact them and ask whether you could use them for your stitching.

I was afraid that might be the case, that's why I was asking. So no luck here...

Hi Jim and Welcome.

Your quilt sounds fascinating to say the least. IS it all cross stitch or some fabric mixed in with cross stitch?

Looks to me like Joyful did a search for something appropriate and was looking for some free advertising for their religious needlework site
