Lovely, Rose... You are brave to try a whole thing in metallics.
:applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:
(Now that I think about it... I have one C-ornament, that I started last year and haven't finished, it's mostly metallics. Might take it out one day.)

Rose wrote:Oh yes,yes ,yes I used my thread heaven to work the threads or else I would still be stitching them. My pushing finger got rather sore and I had to put on 2 band-aids to finish the second card.

I am trying to use up the DMC metallics that I have just so they don't get wasted. Other wise I would not be working with them I prefer Glissen Gloss and Krenik metallics.

If it was me I would find a matching color in the glissen gloss collection of Mediera threads if I was going to be using a lot of the metallics they seem to be the best of the bunch. In the Rainbow 24 is a light spun gold color and the 25 is a darker yellow gold color.

Here is a link so you can see the colors they have. They are great to stitch with.

Thanks for the suggestion and link Rose--I'll definitely be looking into that, especially after having reread Sarah's posts when she was doing the same project--and she didn't like the anchor reflections metallic thread at all

I don't know... the book is in Hungarian. I will have to look up all those stitches in English...

Edit:
So far I could identify herringbone stitch, pillow stitch and double cross stitch. Will tell you when I find out more. :)
By the way, a wonderful encyclopedia of stitches and other stitching related words: http://www.artsanddesigns.com/cgi-bin/m ... &section=D" target="_blank

This is an ATC I did for the Facebook ATC group, the theme was 'letter c'. Stitched on somekind of evenweave (?) I got the fabric out of a little mixed bag of fabric squares but none were labelled so I don't know what they are and I used DMC threads. I'm really pleased the way it turned out even though there were quite a few colour changes.

The alphabet was out of an old issue of Cross Stitch Crazy magazine (I think?) I'll have a look a bit later on to confirm and get an issue number for you. :)

For those that are interested in the celtic alphabet. I dug out the magazine and it was Cross Stitch Crazy issue 54 December 2003. :)

I have done a small project yesterday - will turn it into a small bag. It's done on some hand died fabric, if I remember well, it is from a Polstitches grab bag. I was trying to fit some star-shaped embellishments into the circles but had to remove them, they were too big. Will try to find something smaller.

Image

I am planning to do another similar one, I already have a design in my mind, but need another nice and positive saying to go with it. Does anyone know something good (and not too long :) ?

Also, have done some more squares on my stitches experiment. This is where it is now:

and some close ups:

I have a little problem sometimes, not each stitch pattern fits into the small square I started with so I have to adjust or compromise (like the bargello pattern cut off :? )

Edit: looking at the photos, I have just realised I made a mistake with the bottom right one, there should be three squares left out between the two because the dark red is one square smaller. Oh, well...
