Another "in-betweeny" -- we had a lovely "meal for charity" at a friend's house, so I stitched this thank you. It's on 32ct white sparkly Fabric Flair evenweave, using Carrie's Threads stranded cotton "Serenity". I mounted it on a deep turquoise card.

Incidentally, if you ever use sparkly fabric where the sparkle is applied to the surface rather than woven into the fabric, be careful when you iron it. I keep forgetting, and consequently the glue that holds the sparkles on melts and then sticks my stitching to the towel I'm ironing on!

This is fantastic, Mabel, lovely choice of colours. :applesauce: :applesauce:

When you say we should be careful with ironing - what can you do? is there any way to protect the surface glitter from melting? Or something else instead of ironing?

Well, DH came up with the idea of ironing on top of a piece of baking parchment. It would squash the stitches a bit more than ironing straight onto a towel, but it should just about work -- I haven't tried it yet, though!

I hear quilters talk about ironing on freezer paper. Don't know if that is the same as baking parchment or not.

Thanks, Mabel, let us know if you try it out.

By the way, what IS freezer paper? I have never heard of it in this part of the world. Baking parchment yes.

Had some nice stitching time over the weekend -- I've been working on the Russian hippo, and a Hardanger experiment, and here is band four of the first bookmark   :

It certainly does -- they suggested colours like these on the chart, but as I was using different threads I took a lot of trouble finding the right ones; I even stitched samples with a lot of them, in one and two strands :-).

I particularly like the contrast between the words and the little motifs between them, the lettering and the relatively cool-coloured rectangles are quite modern and they contrast so nicely with the very traditional, warm-coloured motifs, which always remind me of corn and poppies. I think Lizzie*Kate have come up with a great design!

One of the other bookmarks will have pretty much the same colour combination, though again in a different brand of thread so it will look a little different, and the third will actually use a slightly different combination -- hope it will work :x:
