Another type of stitching

Post by MaggieM1750 »

Well, I didn't get much cross stitching done this weekend because I was busy at my mothers making things for my bedroom. I recently bought a new duvet from Ikea.. only to find they had nothing else that coordinated with it. So, I went to the fabric store and mom got out her sewing machine and we made some. We made a valance, recovered a lamp shade, and made the little throw pillow. I still have the curtain tie backs to make but I have to pick up some buttons and then my room will be complete. I don't really know how to use a sewing machine so we used the pillow as my lesson. The lamp shade was just a boring black, I added the jewels along the bottom and cording on the top before attaching the fabric.

Thank you all. It is nice to finally have my bedroom finished.. I think I bought my duvet 2 or 3 months ago.. have spent much of this time looking around for fabric with the right shade of dark purple. But the search can be as much rewarding as the finished project.

They look great! I completely understand about trying to find fabric! I'm trying to find a silver and black fabric to make DS's vest out of for a wedding coming up that he's in. I can't buy a suit with all the pieces because he is a different size on top than on bottom so half of it wouldn't be used.

Enjoy the newly decorated room! Now, would you like to come over and finish sewing the curtains I started over a year ago for my kids' rooms? :D
