I'm going to try to make a gingerbread house using 7 mesh plastic canvas and tent stitch and it's hard to explain but wonderful, just trust me! The only thing is, the key calls for 115 yards of worsted weight yarn. I was initially thinking I'd use normal tapestry wool, but if I've got to buy that much (would work out to a ridiculous number of 8-metre skeins!) I'd much rather find a cheaper option.
Now, as I don't know what worsted weight yarn actually is, can anyone point me in the right direction? If I go out and buy a ball of normal wool will that about do it? (I'm teaching myself to knit a bit so any excess would end up in my knitting basket and put to use eventually, so I'm not worried about wastage!)

It is D.K. so you should be able to pick up all of your colours for a good price, check out the pound shops etc, you never know, you may find what you are looking for? Good luck

Went to go shopping then realised I get paid this Friday so am currently a little strapped for cash! I'm sure pictures can be arranged, once I manage to get started
I'm on holiday all next week but between the pair of coasters I'm making at the moment (most of the way through the first one and pictures will go up in the mini projects thread when it's done) and this and Stashmas and mustn't forget dearly beloved's birthday I'm not sure that I'll have much time sitting around! I'm looking forward to not being at work though...!

Re: Worsted weight yarn?
I got it all done in time for Christmas, much to the delight of many, especially the kids at the neighbourhood party at my dad's house that I took it along to

I'm considering doing a miniature version (on 14 count) for my nephew for this Christmas.
