Serinde, no I have no clue where they came from  Years ago when I was a young teenager my mom's brother traced the family tree, but I only had a mild interest in it then. I don't even know where the paperwork is from my uncle's search. All I know is the last name of Scottish relatives is Coombs and the English is Foster. I will definitely find out some day as I am very interested now.

Thanks for all the encouragement, everyone! I am super-excited to see the castle developing! :D Although, there are a LOT of confetti stitches in that area. It does make a nice break from all the blues and whites, though!

OK, it has been a really long time since I have updated this one.......I have been working on it over the last few months, but haven't had a lot of time to get online. I am finished almost the entire top row - there are just about 15 confetti stitches I'm missing. That is about 8 pages. I was getting worried while stitching this because there are SO MANY confetti stitches, when you look at it closely it doesn't seem to look the way I think it is supposed to. But when looking at it through the camera lens, I realized it is coming out just fine, I must be just too close!!

I have also discovered that I do not think I like working on projects this big. I keep having to switch and do smaller projects to keep my motivation going. I will definitely finish this, since it is a gift for my mom, but I think in the future I will stick to smaller projects. Anyway, here is the whole thing:

And here is more of a close-up on my recent work:

This looks fabulous!!! You're right though, sometimes when you're stitching you tend to wonder about what weird colours you're using, and about random scattered bits of confetti - you have to take a step back and look at it afresh and then it really pops! :applesauce: :applesauce:

It can be difficult to keep your motivation going with such a large project (unless you're a dedicated HAEDer), but it's certainly worth it, what you've done so far looks gorgeous!
