A temporary impairment I hope. Not knowing each other that is.

Thank you, and congratulations on your own wedding, may your cateres not have food poisoning and the flower truck not get a puncture en route ^_^ Why is it that all wedding magazines seem filled with horror stories of these two things? And crazy bridesmaids and mothers? *eyes her pile suspisciously*

We've got a preliminary date in mind now by the way! We're thinking September 15th 2012. We're looking at venues at the moment and I'm getting slightly queesy! HOW MUCH?! It's like, an office function is half the price as a wedding and very little extra is offered. *curls up* And we're trying to find a Yorkshire venue with a cliff ^_^

LOL - don't worry, you'll find exactly what you want even if it seems all a bit out of reach just now :) As for wedding magazines, I take them all with a HUGE pinch of salt :lol: Nice to look at, and good for some ideas, but I stopped taking them seriously when the first one I looked at said "the average amount spent on a wedding is £20K" :shock: :shock: My biggest tip with wedding planning is that Ebay is a wonderful place :wink:

:dance: 8 weeks today I will be Mrs Broadley :dance:

hehe not quite as outrageous, but mine says around 15k with a grand for the engagement ring...way to Make Chris feel bad! I ignored it completely, it's good as a guide, but I asked Amy what her wedding cost and she quoted about 6k. Which is more realistic.

I'm really lucky though because my mum is buying my dress up to about 2k, including a circlet and my hair (she's also going to secure the only hairdresser I trust to do my hair on such an important day) and she's thinking of putting in towards the venue, if not paying completely while Chris' mum is paying for the flowers :P

I'm making our wedding favours and stationary myself. *contemplates cross stitching place names* and a wishing well so people can donate money towards the honeymoon instead of buying gifts. And the wedding cake...Aunty Carol, Aunty Helen and myself all do them.

So we've already got the majorly expensive things covered. I need to work out the bridesmaids dresses, but we'll be able to afford those easily, as we're starting to save now for 2012.

oooh I bet you're so excited! :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

A tip I learned (from man stroke woman and various wedding magazines/books/websites) to save money.

Don't say "wedding"! Yep! Apparently, if you just leave that word out, everything is cheaper! "I want some centerpieces for a party" may save you money versus, "I want some wedding centerpieces." Couldn't hurt to try! Or you can call for a party quote then go in to order and when they hear it's for a wedding just remind them of the cheap price they quoted you earlier... :) I haven't gotten that far in my planning yet but I hear that tip from everybody!

@ Mae
I've heard that too and I find that very insulting. People putting up prices like that because it's a wedding. I'm absolutely disgusted, as if they weren't expensive enough!

@Lisa
Aww thank you. I may ask to borrow it closer to the date. I don't even have a potential guest list at the moment, but it's so very kind of you to offer ^_^
