I have an Elbesee seat frame with a 10" hoop that I use occasionally, and it's very handy. It sells for under £20, and is pretty basic, but does the job.

I also have a seat frame. Mine has a variaty of different clips. I can use any frame (scroll, q-snap, hoops) with one of the attachments and there's a chart holder on it too. Didn't cost me much, and it really is a god send. BUT it was clearly designed for someone shorter than me and I have to slouch to use it.

I have both a seat frame and a floor stand. I don't use either. I found that the seat frame was hard to keep in position because I'm sitting on a couch and not a hard chair. The floor stand would be great if I weren't trying to elevate my legs at the end of the day.

I would like to find a floor stand that I can position next to the couch instead of directly in front of it.

I have got a lap frame which I've never had to use, however my next project is long and thin and I don't think it will work well in a hoop. I will admit I'm terrified of using it! It looks big and clumsy and I think it will be a nightmare to hold. Any tips? (I don't have a stand as I have no where to keep it.)

I use a Stitchmaster lap frame. It works great for me. I use it on my couch, nmy bed, the floor. It did take a bit of learning.

I bought a lap frame a month or so ago at a craft store because I had a 50% off any item coupon.

I believe the original price was $24.99 or something.

From looking at the package, I thought it would be a lifesaver, but it turned out to be more annoying for me than it is worth. It is the scroll type, and I found it really difficult to keep as tight as a regular old cheapo hoop.

I was also always getting the floss or myself caught on the bolts on the side.

It just wasn't very comfortable.

OK, so after reading this thread and searching the net, I have ordered a lap frame. I sit on the sofa to stitch, and there is a coffee table in front of it. So although I have a floor stand, it's just about impossible to use - makes getting up and down a major operation. I'm getting tired of balancing frames on my knee, etc.

I ordered the E-Z lap frame here, which is rather expensive , but if it works for me, well worth it.

I'll keep you posted.

I use and love the Stitch-it-Aphid Mini lap stand It only runs $34.99 USD which is much less than alot of the options. This stand will also hold q-snaps which is a big plus!!

How do you get it to hold the Q-snaps I have tried mine with this type of clamp in the frames and none of them hold to my satifaction. The frames moves around no matter how tight I screw it on. What trick have you found??????

How do you see with the stiching so far away?? I really should get a magnifier, but I tend to hold it pretty close to my face instead.

I have a stitch ezi frame (http://www.emagic.com.au/stitchezi.html" target="_blank) which retails at about $40.00 (Aud) from memory. It collapses easily so ports for stitching away from home and tensions really well.
