That's an idea mig, I might try that, or ill try using the shorter pieces and have excess fabric maybe try both and see what works best for me.

Not as much done so far this weekend as I had hoped - we ended up doing some major furniture moving yesterday and my grandparents came out for dinner/the footie today. Luckily I don't work Mondays or Tuesdays so I can crack on with it then. I've just finished up the leaves. I'm going to do the little bits of tree branches that I haven't dont yet, then outline the pink and purple flowers and the leaves before moving on and doing the other side.

The writing I'll do last I think.

heres my progess as of this morning. its going slower than I had hoped because there is a LOT of backstitching on the flowers and leaves. I've followed the pattern mostly but altered it slightly if the angles etc dont look quite right

Image

All of the stitching has been finished now on the right side - not including the wording. Now that the worst of the fiddly backstitching is done, I'm hoping it will go a little quicker

I dunno how, but the backstitching made those critters even cuter!

thanks everyone. I managed to get loads done today. I put in the first A of the wording as well. On the pattern its done in half cross stitch but I thought it looked much better in full crosses. I don't want to inundate everyone with photos but I made so much progress today it looks quite different already.

You're right the backstitching makes the animals much cuter. I think my favourite is the tortoise, but the birds make a close second
