smiley's stitching

Post by Smiley »

Okay, so I'm a VERY slow stitcher, mostly due to the fact that I hardly get time to stitch :( sadly... I'm still in school, which demands alot of time with projects, assignment, study, etc. I do try to at least stitch 5-10mins a day, but sometimes don't even manage that. Therefore, I usually only stitch small projects, otherwise it takes way to long to finish.

I also know that the designs that I do, do not come near to the glory of some of the other members' projects, but I'm still proud of my things :P and decided that even though mine are little projects, I would like to share them anyway :D I enjoy my stitching thoroughly - and to me, that's what the most important thing is :D :D

Here is my first ever proper cross stitch project that I completed :D I use to work on huge plastic grids with wool as thread when I was young, and started a few on cloth, but this was the first finished one :P This was finished round about when I was 9..
Image

The following one is one of those early ones I started, but made a big mistake, and was too young back then to properly correct without wasting too much thread, so I cried (because I really liked the design) and put it away to become a UFO for way too long. Found it earlier this year, fixed it and here it is :D
Image
This one I finished in the begining of July, I stitched it for my horse-loving friend, "Crazy". She has been having lots of trouble with her horses the past few years, so I decided to stitch her one she could keep :D
Image

I really like many of Adam Pescott's designs, and hopefully not too far in the future, some Nelson and Tibbs designs may join this little one, but in mean time, here is Cute Kitten - Adam Pescott.

Oepsie, these are a bit bigger than I thought :?
Will try to make them a little smaller in future...

The next project that I want to work on, is one which I think is a very sweet moment, and reminds me alot of my mom and I :)
It's a design called Hi Mom by Linda Gillum

I'm hoping to start this one tomorrow or Saturday :D

They are such lovely and cute designs. All beautifully stitched too. :applesauce: Lots of people only do small stitched pieces and they are just as "glorious" as the larger ones. :D

They are all beautiful!! :applesauce: :D

You have every right to be very proud of them!! Needless to say I absolutely love the cat one .... and I'm not surprised you cried over the teddy one going wrong, as he's gorgeous!! So glad you went back to him and finished him so well!! :D

I  them all!! My favorite is the horse (of course) 8)

I'm not a fast stitcher either, for no other reason then I'm just plain slow at it. It's the enjoyment that you get from it that counts!!

Smiley, these are all very cute. the smaller projects are sometimes better than the larger ones because they are quicker to finish, unless you put it away for many years, which I would have done too. I love stitching Linda Gilliam designs (especially her bears). As long as you get some time in the day or even week to do what you enjoy, you will be healthier for it.

Those are great! You should be proud of them, they're well stitched. I'm impressed that a student finds any time for something like stitching. I'm glad you decided to show them. :)

They are all so lovely but I think the cat one would be my favourite of the small ones. I think the one you are going to start is gorgeous. Good luck with doing it.

They're all beautiful especially the little ballerina girl, there's a lot of character in just a few lines of backstitching :applesauce: Looking forward to seeing your work on the :puppy: one too :)

Wow, I didn't expect so many lovely comments   thank you so much to everyone!!! I really appreciate it!! :D
I've done quite a few others in the past, but gave them away and don't have photo's. These are the one's I've done this year (exept the ballerina, I put it on here because it was my first ever proper cross stitch I finished :D)

Hehe, I thought you'd like cute kitten :D I have quite a few cat designs that I want to do in future :P I spotted a "big" design (larger than I've ever done) in a back issue, which I'm still waiting to arrive, ordered it about a month and a half ago :D will be starting it next year January-ish hopefully :D
I'm also glad I got back to him :D I really like popcorn (the teddy bear)!

Thank you for your lovely comment!! I love her designs. I have one of her books with about 100 animal designs. I haven’t seen her bear designs yet :thinks: Will go on a hunt for some pictures :D

Thank you Jarvis!
I try my best to find time – it’s so worth it, even if it is only for a few minutes!! Stitching is a breakaway from the crazy mad world, it takes me on an entire adventure and into a different zone where there is no stress, no cares, just peace :D I’m sure many find stitching that way :D

Thank you Louise! I agree!! It’s amazing what back stitch can do!! Brings so much life in some cases :D
