Question about storage

Question about storage
This question is mainly for the US stitchers. I live in Canada but am heading down south in a few days for a quick shopping trip.
For those of you who use bobbins and the bobbin storage box (the clear plastic one) where did you buy them? I currently use a ziploc bag to keep my threads in but I want to switch over to bobbins. I have looked in a few stores but haven't really found anything I like. I am guessing that maybe Hobby Lobby would have it or maybe even Target?
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. My shopping list grows every single day lol

Re: Question about storage
Hobby Lobby is a possibility, Target is not. Our Targets and Walmarts don't carry cross stitching stuff anymore. One possible storage solution for your bobbins is a http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/prod ... D=prd38569" target="_blank" target="_blank from Jo-Ann Fabrics. I forgot to mention that you can usually get those storage containers at Walmart and Target by the fishing lures!
We have to be creative when finding ways to store our stash.

Re: Question about storage
Thanks for the quick reply. I will be going to Fargo, ND next week for a few days. That picture is pretty close to exactly what I want. Unfortunately, I don't have a credit card so any online ordering is out of the question for me. That's probably a good thing, since I have seen so many patterns that I would love to order but aren't available in stores. It's a great money saver

Re: Question about storage
You also may try Michael's if there are any in the area where you will be. Great ideas on looking at the storage containers at Walmart and Target by the fishing lures--I've done that in the past as well.
Hope you are able to find what you are looking for.

Re: Question about storage
I bought my bobbins and stuff from http://janlynn.com/" target="_blank
My storage containers I just got today I bought at a local needleworks store in town.
I doubt this helps
But try looking on the net.

Re: Question about storage
A lot of what is shown online at Jo Ann's is available in store.... just check the store locator and see if there is one in the area you will be visiting

Re: Question about storage
Plastic lasts longer, cardboard ones can get bent, but you can write better on the cardboard. While you are at JoAnns (if that's where you go) they should have stickers with the numbers printed already to stick on the bobbins. I have used both, and found some cardboard ones that have the number and color printed on them, just for matching colors I guess, I really don't have a logical reason for having them.

Re: Question about storage
If you are going to Fargo.. that is where Nordic Needleis located. Certainly they will have a bobbin box or two. And I know they give a discount if you have traveled over 100 miles!
I would also look at Michaels or JoAnns. I used to go to school in Fargo, but haven't been back in 10 years.. not sure what stores are still there anymore.

Re: Question about storage
I tend to use plastic bobbins, I cut the numbers from the floss and just tape it right onto the bobbin before I wind it--it's the easiest way and it stays put!
Joann's definitely should have the bobbins, as well as the storage boxes. The one near me also stocks a fair assortment of aida, and some linen and evenweaves too. They also carry most of the dmc thread lines and usually have tons of chart booklets

Is Jo-Anns a US only business? Do we have that in Canada? I would love to check out this store!

Re: Question about storage
Here's a link to their online store--don't know if they ship to Canada or not, but at least you will get a good idea of what they sell

Re: Question about storage
Thanks again for all the replies. I don't think Jo Ann's is up here. See all the cool stuff we miss out on lol
I will definitely be visiting it in just a few short days. I have a feeling I will be coming home with quite a pile of stash.
Bobbins and patterns and threads, Oh My.
