I made this for my friend Andy's birthday. He sometimes goes by the moniker "Gryphonquill," so I was looking for something to reflect that. The griffon I found was a freebie on the Dragon Dreams website. He was originally holding a candy cane, so I took that part out and designed a feather quill instead. The griffon is stitched with DMC and two colors of Kreinik #4 braid. I then added some filigree work from another chart I've completed to give it a decorative touch. I used DMC light effects (1 strand) for the filigree, and NOW I understand why everyone hates it so much!!!
It's miserable stuff to work with! I love how it turned out, though, and the way the frame works with the colors of the design. Hope you like it! I know the pics are small, but if you click on them, you should get a bigger image.

Aww, thanks, everyone!
I gave it to him yesterday and he loved it - even teared up a little. Made me feel good that it made him so happy.
Now back to my son's Christmas stocking...

I particularly like the way you personalised this freebie: and the quill came out really well.
