Clarks Anchor Conversion Chart?

Post by kellydales »

Hi all,

My gran has given me a chart from the 1960's she wants me to complete - the only trouble is the chart has numbers for Clarks Anchor stranded cotton - does anybody know where i can find a conversion chart for these as the numbers dont seem to relate to modern anchor threads at all!! :?

Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Thank you

Hi

I have a PDF file that lists the old Clark's Anchor shade numbers and converts them to today's shade numbers which was updated in 2002, which I downloaded from the Coats UK website. Unfortunately Coats have revamped their website and the link for the file no longer works and I cannot find it in a search of the website. Perhaps you could contact Coats through their website for the PDF file. i would willingly pass the PDF file on but there seems no method for attaching it to this post.

Hi Willow,

Just to say that is a different conversion chart. The one I am referring to is Clark's Anchor in the UK and has nothing to do with Coats and Clark or J&P Coats in the USA. They are all part of the same company now but were not originally, hence the difference. My conversion chart runs to 3 pages and has hundreds of shades like the Anchor brand has now. I am not sure which chart the original thread author wanted but it may be the Clark's Anchor UK version I have.

With best wishes,
Elizabeth
